Who knew you could play Mario with drums?
The soundtracks from the 8-bit Super Mario Bros. games contain within them some of the most iconic and instantly-recognizable video game songs ever. As such, countless people have produced all kinds of covers of these songs, so of course, it takes quite a bit to produce a cover that manages to stand out from the crowd. Well, it appears that the Japanese YouTuber/master drummer/classic video game enthusiast Dainashi has succeeded at this daunting task.
Wearing his trademark wrestling mask and no shirt, Dainashi can be seen in the video below beating his drum set to the tune of some of the most popular songs in video game history. Starting with the main theme from the first Super Mario Bros., he then moves on to Super Mario Bros. 2 (the Japanese version, which is also known as The Lost Levels in the U.S.), and finally he finishes with the classic Super Mario Bros. 3. Along the way he takes on Bowser, Mario makes a few appearances, and overall, shows that using an NES controller isn’t the only way to “play” Mario. Check out the video below.
