One day Aya decided to start a bar. It ended up being one of the best decisions of her life.

Aya is the owner of Urue, a lesbian bar located in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district. She’s a talkative and cheerful person who seems to truly enjoy what she does. However, this wasn’t always the case. For many years Aya dealt with severe anxiety about her work situation and her future. In fact, it got so bad that for a time she was a “hikikomori” (shut-in). Despite that Aya managed to open her own bar and now she finds joy in what she does. In this JapanKyo Docs video, you’ll get to learn about Aya’s life and all she overcame in order to open her own bar.
