It’s not easy having a pompadour but to Yuki it’s totally worth it.

The pompadour, or rīzento as it is known in Japan, is a classic hairstyle that was adopted by juvenile delinquents (不良: furyō/ヤンキー: yankī) in Japan during the Showa era. Just watch an anime or Japanese TV drama set in the 1970s or ’80s and you’re bound to eventually see some tough young punk sporting a finely sculpted coif. However, these days it’s really rare to see anyone still sporting a pompadour in Japan. Nevertheless, there are still a few individuals in Japan who proudly sport pompadours. One such individual is Yuki.

Yuki runs the YouTube channel Regent Times. On this YouTube channel Yuki releases content focusing on fashion and, of course, the amazing pompadour he sports. On this JapanKyo Docs video we show you all the hard work Yuki puts into styling his hair. Plus we also learn a little bit about the man behind the amazing hair.
