Let Pikotaro whip you into shape with his latest song.

Are you stuck at home due to the coronavirus pandemic? Are you thinking that you should exercise more? Are you not sure what to do? Maybe you can do some Zumba. Or how about doing a yoga class through Zoom? Or you can forget all that and give working out with Pikotaro a shot. Yes, the viral sensation behind PPAP has used the extra time he has had during the coronavirus pandemic to create a new song and music video he hopes will help people stay fit without going outside.

Called “Hoppin’ Flappin’,” Pikotaro’s new song was released on Monday (5/11, JST). The video features Pikotaro in his trademark leopard print suit hopping around like a rabbit and flapping his arms like a bird. There really isn’t all that much more to it than that. It’s just Pikotaro getting his heart rate up in a very Pikotaro way.

Check out “Hoppin’ Flappin'” below.

So how do we know that “Hoppin’ Flappin'” was intended as a work out? For this information we have to look at the video’s description area. As usual, Pikotaro has left a nice message in both English and Japanese for his fans. Below is the English version of this message.

“The #stayhome situation is ongoing so I made another new track!! Hop like a rabbit! Fly like a bird! Get your lazy body movin’ with these jumps! Have fun with Hoppin’ Flappin’ ! Can you complete the Hop and Flap? PIKOTARO was too old to do it! Let’s Hoppin’ Flappin’ with the new”PPAP” ‼️

Given that Pikotaro says he was “too old” to “complete the Hopp and Flap'” and how winded he appears to be at the end of the video, it definitely seems like “Hoppin’ Flappin'” will get your heart rate going. So why not give it a shot? For best results, please consider wearing a leopard print suit. Also, don’t forget to drink plenty of water.

In all seriousness, though, “Hoppin’ Flappin'” definitely seems like the kind of thing young children might enjoy doing, so if you’re a parent with bored little ones, you may want to employ Pikotaro’s help in order to burn off some of their excess energy.
