Nothing like drinking a cold one in an airplane toilet.

People do different things to help them get to sleep. Some people drink a warm glass of milk and others, such as in the recent case of a male flight attendant, like to drink beer in airplane toilets.

On Wednesday (April 6) Japan Airlines (JAL) revealed that on May 22, about three and a half hours after take off on flight 8791 which was headed from Honolulu to Kansai International Airport, a JAL flight attendant in his 20s took a can of beer from the on-board refreshments intended for passengers, snuck away to one of the airplane lavatories, and secretly partook of the pilfered alcoholic beverage while still on-duty.

The incident was brought to JAL’s attention on May 31 after they received an email from a passenger saying that they saw the flight attendant enter the airplane lavatory with a can of beer. The email further noted that after the flight attendant exited the lavatory, they checked it and found the empty beer can in the lavatory trash.

The flight attendant has reportedly admitted to the actions and claims that he drank the beer to “sleep well” during his roughly one hour break.

The Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Labor has reprimanded JAL, saying this could be a threat to safety.

Reports have yet to reveal exactly how well the flight attendant slept after his illicit toilet beer.
