Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow.

Japan has a whole lot of pun based “holidays.” And perhaps one of the most well known is Cat Day. Called Neko no Hi in Japanese, this celebration of all-things-cat takes place every year on February 22nd. The reason for this is that the date’s numerical representation, 2/22, contains nothing but twos and in Japanese the number two (ni) sounds somewhat like the sound a cat makes: nya or nyan. So being that Cat Day is almost upon us, it seems like the perfect time to check out an ongoing livestream of a kitty-filled room in Japan.

The three videos below are from the YouTube channel Miaou and show streaming footage of a room in Himeji, Japan that is occupied by eight lovely kitties of varying ages and colors. In the video descriptions for each feed you’ll find information in both Japanese and English about the channel and the cats themselves. You’ll also find some amusing English sentences such as the so-badly-translated-it-sounds philosophical “Is absent cats to cat tree. Cats are in the cat room?” So, if you have time to kill and you’re in the mood to watch cats be cats, check out the feeds below (the cats seem particularly fond of the cat tower, so that’s probably where you want to start).
