A Japanese music producer/composer is starting to generate some buzz online thanks to a truly revolutionary product that he is trying to get made via Kickstarter. That product? An electronic crotch drum that will make you the envy of all your friends.
Called Banggos, this unique little drum machine was posted to Kickstarter on July 13 by Japanese music producer KaoringMachine. What’s so unique about Banggos? Simple, unlike other boring electronic drums, Banggos is worn on the crotch. How does it work? It’s actually quite simple. Just follow the four easy steps below.
First you have to start by turning on the batteries.
Banggos connects to your smartphone via an app so, before you start making beautiful crotch music you have to start up the app.
Third, you put the device in your “Banggos pocket.”
And fourth, you “touch your crotch!” Banggos has a sensor which will detect when you touch it and produce sounds accordingly.
After those four easy steps you’ll be ready to start making music by either slapping your crotch or doing some well-timed pelvic thrusts (just don’t overdo it or you might hurt yourself). And because Banggos is wearable you’ll want to take your crotch drum everywhere, even the city, where, as the truly entertaining song in the Banggos promotional video says, you’ll be “everyone’s hero!”
To see the Bannggos in action check out the video below. Just a warning though, the song used in the video is not only incredibly catchy but it features some really great lyrics. It’s hilarious and it’s a wonder that this video has only gotten around 62,000 views in the three days since its release.
Here’s a short demo video.
Lastly, here’s a video, which was released in April of last year and seems to have been the video that first got KaoringMachine’s silly little invention noticed. Interestingly, this video appears to have been made before he caming up with the name “Banggos” because in the title he calls his invention a “chin chin drum,” which translates to a “penis drum.”
So why did KaoringMachine make Banggos in the first place? Well, he puts it best himself in his Kickstarter page.
There are so many electronic instruments and wearable devices out there today, and yet none have managed to make my body sway involuntarily and get up and groove to the music.
Why is that?
I made Banggos for that sole purpose.
A tap to the crotch and the music starts. That’s all there is to it. There’s only one key because it’s that simple. And wearable. It doesn’t have to be complicated to be genius. Simple. Stylish. Silly. Let’s bring a new definition to the word “musical instrument”.
KaoringMachine’s goal for his “electric sexy drum pants” is a mere 5,000 USD. As of the time of this writing (Jul. 17) he is at 756 USD and has 26 days to go, so it seems like Banggos has a good chance of becoming a reality.
If you’d like to learn more about Banggos or if you’d like to help KaoringMachine bring about a musical revolution by dropping him a few bucks, then head on over to his Kickstarter page here.
