A bizarrely polite threat is still a threat…
A 25-year-old company employee from Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture, was arrested on suspicion of attempted coercion after allegedly leaving a threatening handwritten note on a woman’s car.
According to Niigata Keizai Shimbun, the man was arrested by Nagaoka Police on May 20.
Police say that between May 8 and May 11, the suspect placed an envelope under the windshield wiper of a compact car belonging to a woman in her 20s that had been parked in Nagaoka City. The evenvelope contained a note with handritten text including the following message:
“Please give me your underwear. If you do, no harm will come to you or your family.”
The woman contacted police, and the suspect was ultimately unable to carry out his objective. Police also stated that the man and the woman knew each other personally.
During questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to the allegations, saying, “There is no mistake that I did it.” Police are continuing to investigate the details of the case.
Reporting does not make it clear how exactly the suspect expected the woman to hand over her underwear nor how police were able to identify the suspect as the culprit.
