There’s tons of examples of why the English dubs of Dragon Ball Z suck and in this video I talk about one that isn’t so well known. This time I’m focusing on an exchange between Piccolo and Goku that happens towards the beginning of their fight with Raditz. Sadly, the Ocean and the Funimation dubs completely changed this moment. As a result what in the original Japanese was a great moment between Piccolo and Goku that adds character depth to Goku ends up being either horribly bad or just plain forgettable in the dubs. I also look at the Dragon Ball Z Kai dub and the Latin American dub to see how they handled this scene. And I also explain what “ora wakuwaku suru zo” means. Watch until the end and let me know if you knew about this change in the dubs!
