The Japanese “robot hotel,” Henn-na Hotel (変なホテル), opened up its second location in the city of Maihama in Chiba Prefecture on Wednesday (Mar. 15).

After it opened its first location in 2015 on the grounds of the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Nagasaki Prefecture Henn-na
Hotel (literally translates to “Weird Hotel”) made headlines around the world for being
the world’s first robot-staffed hotel.

Located near Tokyo Disney, this new Maihama City location makes it possible for even more people visiting Japan to find out what it’s like to stay in a hotel run almost entirely by robots.

The new location features about 140 robot workers, including a robot dinosaur at the check-in counter, robot fish in the aquarium, a voice activated robot assistant in each room and many other kinds of robots.

Aside from the mechanized staff, the hotel also employs seven human workers. By reducing human staff in this way the hotel hopes to increase profits by more than double of what is typical for a normal hotel.
Hideo Sawada, the president of the Japanese travel agency H.I.S., said that they are hoping to open 100 more Henn-na Hotel locations in places outside of Japan, such as Hong Kong and Shanghai.
The video below shows the grand opening ceremony for the new location, as well as footage of some of the hotel’s robots.
