We are G-POP from Japan Can Not Speak English |
G-POP from Kochi-Ke ALL STARS, the Japanese male idol group from Kochi Prefecture whose five members have a combined age of 341 and an average age of 68.2, has just released a music video for their new song “I Was Young” and this time these cool grandpas are singing completely in English.
“I Was Young” manages to keep that same upbeat electronic dance sound that helped make their first song “KōreI Banzai,” the global sensation it became, while at the same time offering something new by having these pop star senior citizens sing completely in English. Although they make it quite clear in the song that they can’t speak English, they manage to do a pretty good job. And they even offer up some pretty memorable lines like “Throw your phone into the sea” and “When was my first kiss When was it I totally forgot it Oh my god.” However, the song isn’t just funny lines, it also has a deeper and very positive meaning.
G-POP’s goal is to raise awareness of Kochi Prefecture and cheer up people all over the world. If you’d like to help them achieve that goal then go ahead and check out the music video for “I Was Young” below.
And, just in case you missed it, or you’d like to watch it again, you can find the music video for G-POP’s first song below. “Kōrei Banzai” was uploaded to YouTube last February and it quickly caught the attention of people all over the world.
