In this video, we’re taking a look at some unfortunate localization choices in anime dubs. Specifically, I’m focusing on moments when English dubs insert references and/or slang that tie the dub to a specific point in time—even though the original Japanese contains no such references or trendy language.

This video includes examples from the various English dubs of Dragon Ball Z, the 2015 anime Prison School, and the game The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak II.
