The “Destructo Disc” is one of Dragon Ball Z’s most well known and–in a sense–powerful techniques. But do you know its Japanese name? Is Destructo Disc an accurate translation? Or just something completely made up by Funimation? On this edition of Dragon Ball Dictionary I break down the Japanese name of the Destructo Disc (kienzan 気円斬) and determine whether it’s an accurate translation or not. I also talk about how it was localezed in the Latin American dub of Dragon Ball Z. Let me know in the comments if you think Destructo Disc is a good localization or not!

Note: This video is about how the kienzan (気円斬) was localized into English. It covers the meaning of each kanji and whether the English term is faithful to the original meaning. The video also covers why kienzan was changed to Destructo Disc in the English dub of Dragon Ball Z.
