Can’t sleep? Then you should listen to someone count sheep in Japanese.

Life during the coronavirus pandemic has been extremely stressful for just about everyone on planet earth. Not surprisingly, this has resulted in many people having trouble falling asleep. But if you’re one of these individuals, then fear not, becase, as discussed in a prior article, Kiryūin Shō, the frontman, leader, and creative force behind the Japanese “air” rock band Golden Bomber seems to have made it his personal mission to help you out.

While he began by releasing hour-long videos inended to help people relax and sleep soundly, Kiryūin has taken things to a whole new level with his latest video. Released on Friday, April 24 (JST) to the Golden Bomber YouTube channel Kiryūin’s new video is just 10 hours of him counting sheep in a soft and soothing voice. Over the course of 10 whole hours Kiryūin makes his way from one sheep all the way to 9,000. By the way, Kiryūin ends the video by saying “it’s morning! Good morning.”

Watch the video below and let Kiryūin lull you to sleep with his peaceful sheep counting.

Given that Kiryūin’s voice remans steady through out the video, it seems highly unlikely that he recorded all ten hours of sheep counting in one sitting. If that had been the case, surely Kiryūin’s voice would have shown some sings of fatigue by the end. Nevertheless, counting sheep for 10 hours over the course of several sessions is still quite an impressive feat.

Judging by the fact that this video already has over 20,000 views within a couple hours of its release, it seems likely that it will easily get several hundreds of thousands of views within the next days or weeks. For example, the hour-long video of Kiryūin watching a bonfire that he released last month has gotten over 600,000 views to date. But if people alctually start using Kiryūin’s sheep video to help them sleep, there’s a chance it could get several million views within a month or two.

Looks like Kiryūin has managed to rack up one more credit to his name: creator of sleep facilitation videos.
