Japan just can’t get enough Snoopy.
The Hokkaido city of Otaru will soon be home to the latest location of Snoopy Chaya (Snoopy 茶屋, Snoopy Tea House), a popular chain of Japanese style cafes featuring food and decor based on Charles M. Schulz’s beloved comic strip: Peanuts.
When the Otaru Snoopy Chaya opens its doors on April 19, it will be the fourth officially licensed Peanuts-themed “tea house” to open since 2014 when the original Snoopy Chaya started operating in the Yufuin area of Yufu City, Oita Prefecture.

This new location will combine a Taisho-era (1912-1928) tea house aesthetic with decor based on the characters from the Peanuts comic strip. And just like previous locations, the Otaru Snoopy Chaya will sell plenty of Peanuts goods, along with a varied selection of dishes, sweets and drinks made to look like Snoopy and his friends (mainly just Snoopy and Woodstock though). Many of these adorable menu items will also be based on local specialties and made using locally-sourced ingredients.
In the gift shop you’ll be able to buy many Peanuts-themed products exclusive to the Otaru location. Due to Otaru being home to a famous music box museum, one of these exclusive products will be a Peanuts music box.
Aside from the Otaru and Yufuin locations, Snoopy Chayas can also be found in Kyoto City and Ise City, Mie Prefecture.
Unfortunately, it is still unknown whether the Otaru Snoopy Chaya will finally add Woodstock karaage to the menu.
