Who says otaku can’t dance?
Just in time for the April 1st start date of the highly anticipated second season of the hit anime series, Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin), a Hokkaido otagei (otaku dance) group has released an Attack on Titai themed dance video that is sure to get you pumped.
If you’ve ever been to or seen videos of an anime or idol concert, then you’ve probably seen hardcore fans doing an intense type of dancing popularly referred to as otagei (オタ芸), or wotagei (ヲタ芸). This unique style of dancing involves jumping, arm-waving, cheering and, often times, the use of light-sticks.
The new video features three light-stick wielding members of the Kita no Uchishitachi otagei dance group showing off their Attack on Titan inspired dance moves to the tune of “Die Flügel der Freiheit” (自由の翼 Jiyū no Tsubasa), the second opening theme of the first season of the popular anime series.
