This video could help you save someone’s life
Mami Kawaguchi, a former member of the Japanese idol group Baito AKB and current nursing student at Keio University, released a music video last month that teaches people how to save lives.
The song, called “Let’s Use It ♡ AED” (“tsukao♡AED”) and its music video, were created as part of Kawaguchi’s project to teach people how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
It’s easy!
An AED is a portable device used to deliver an electric shock to the heart. AEDs are used to correct an irregular heart rhythm and can save someone’s life if used within the first few minutes of a sudden cardiac arrest. Although they are commonly found in public places across Japan many people are either unaware of this or too afraid to use the device even in an emergency situation.
Just open the AED, stick the pads on and hit that switch!
The educational music video is Kawaguchi’s latest attempt to raise awareness of AEDs and save people’s lives. Although the video is fun and even a bit silly, the content is actually applicable even if you are not in Japan. AEDs around the world, including in the U.S., are generally quite similar to the one in the video. In order to use one, just remember the three easy steps that Kawaguchi lays out in the song. Open it, stick the pads on and press the button. The machine will then does the rest. It even determine if a shock is necessary or not. So don’t worry about incorrectly shocking anyone.
