Leave now if you’re not into mindless insanity.
MAD videos, or MAD movies as they are also sometimes called, are a genre of Japanese online video/meme that uses crazy epilepsy inducing editing techniques, anime and video game music, visuals from anime and video games and random strange video clips and images taken from all over. These videos tend to be somewhere between entertaining in a somewhat hypnotizing and mind-numbing way, and rip-your-hair-out annoying. In other words, they’re not for everyone.
The MAD video below was uploaded to the Japanese video sharing website NicoNico Douga on October 4 and primarily mashes together two things; a song from the Bandai Namco pop idol group management simulation/rhythm video game series iDOLM@STER and audio from a popular meme in which a guy “plays” the old “Who’s that pokemon?” game from the original pokemon animated series and incorrectly guesses (with great conviction) that the pokemon on screen is pikachu when it clearly is not (warning, the video does contain ample use of the word “fuck” so you might want to use headphones if other people are around).
Check out this ridiculous MAD video below, and just in case the NicoNico Douga video doesn’t load, here’s a link to a YouTube repost.
